Polyethylene foam joint cord Mapefoam Mapei is a closed-cell sealing cord used as a backer (joint base) for the application of all types of sealants and mastics. It ensures correct joint dimensioning and optimal distribution of the sealant. The product is suitable for both horizontal and vertical joints, indoors or outdoors, and can be used in industrial, commercial, and residential construction projects.

Mapefoam offers high strength and stability: it does not absorb water, is rot-proof, and maintains its elasticity within a temperature range from -40°C to +80°C. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, the cord prevents excessive sealant absorption and provides reliable self-retention within the joint. It is ideal for use in industrial floors made of ceramic tiles or natural stone, as well as in other applications where durable joint sealing is required.

Before installing the Mapefoam cord, ensure that the joint and its edges are thoroughly cleaned from dust and impurities. The cord should be gently pressed into the joint to the required depth and selected with a diameter slightly larger than the joint width for a secure fit. After installation, the joint should be filled with a suitable sealant from the MAPEI range, ensuring a tight, elastic, and long-lasting seal.
